North Wales Emergency Doctor Service
North Wales Emergency Doctor Service
The North Wales Emergency Doctor Service (NWEDS) is set up to provide skilled medical pre-hospital care. This involves attending medical emergencies that occur in North Wales as part of a coordinated response with the other emergency services.
The organisation works as a charity and hence is wholly dependant on donations. It is set up by doctors and full membership is only for doctors who are trained to attend incidents outside the hospital. These doctors attend in their own time and are paid no fees.
Each NWEDS doctor carries a whole range of equipment when attending the scene of the incident. All the
equipment is bought with the help of the money raised by the charity.
NWEDS Launch Day.
The North Wales Emergency Doctor Service was officially launched on the 4th July 2010 at The Oriel Country Hotel and Spa, St Asaph. Attended by more than 100 guests it was a resounding success. We had Members of Parliament and Assembly Members attending the launch ceremony in the morning along-side the guests from the North Wales Police, Ambulance Service, RNLI and the Mountain Rescue Teams. There was a valuable oportunity to network and discuss the need for a service like this.
It was a successful day and where well wishers and friends got together to raise money to start off the service.
